Enjoy the strains and delights of the harpsichord on an August afternoon in the absolutely enchanting surroundings of St Peter’s Church in Carlton.
James Joyce said of this lovely instrument “A duodene of bird notes chirruped bright treble answer under sensitive hand. Brightly the keys, all twinkling, linked, all harpsichording, called to a voice to sing the strain of dewy morn, of youth, of love’s leave-taking, life’s, love’s morn.”
So, set in a parkland landscape, St Peter’s provides this unique opportunity to listen to music from Couperin, Scarlatti, Purcell, Handel, Bach and Rameau among others.
Providing the musicianship, Julian Larkin will be providing an afternoon to savour.
All donations will be going toward the repair of the east window of the church
