An official unveiling will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, 7 September 2019 at the junction of East Green and Hawthorn Road, with our County and District councillors in attendance.
East Suffolk District Council have agreed its status and formally recognised it as a non-designated heritage asset, with it also being put forward for a ‘Quality of Place Award’.
We believe this restored fingerpost will:
- be seen and admired by approximately 33% (about 350 people) of our parishioners who pass this sign on their way to Theberton, Saxmundham and Leiston, as well as tourists staying locally and festival goers for at least the next 20 years
- add to our parish pride and sense of community in joining together to restore this rare fingerpost and through any additional publicity provided or awards gained, and
- further improve the aesthetics of our parish and especially at this busy road junction.
The feedback so far from our community has been very positive: “It’s a triumph. We love it.
