Carlton Church Flower Festival Weekend

A CELEBRATION OF ‘LIFE in CARLTON’ With flowers, music and history Saturday 4th August & Sunday 5th August Richard and Viv Wills Crisp have assembled stories of Carlton, starting in 1326 with visitations from monks, plane crashes during the second world war and tea parties at Carlton Hall, all illustrated with flower arrangements by friends of the Church. There are also flower pictures from the children of Kelsale Primary School, and free refreshments! On Sunday evening, at 6.30 pm, the event finishes with a musical evening with Charity Quin. St Mary and St Peter's Church welcomes the pupils of famed mezzo soprano Gillian Knight for an evening of Summer Serenade in early August. A concert of well loved solos and duets from Les Miserable to Mozart with local artistes featuring Joanna Barfield, Veronica Downing, Barry Marshall, Wendy Slaney and students from St Felix School in Southwold accompanied by Jonathan Rutherford. Gillian Knight, a long standing soloist at the Royal Opera House now lives in Suffolk and brings a wealth of talent to the lovely setting at the church in Kelsale. In August 2017, Suffolk Coastal District Council published a Local Plan Issues and Options consultation. This document attracted over 6000 comments from approximately 650 individuals and organisations. The SCDC Planning Policy Team and the Local Plan Working Group have been considering these consultation responses and emerging evidence to formulate the First Draft Plan.
